What is the Suicide Prevention Series?
The Suicide Prevention Lesson Series is a collection of 10 practical, classroom-ready lessons designed for students in Grades 9-12. Rather than focusing on crisis, these lessons strengthen the protective factors known to support mental health and reduce suicide risk, including connection, belonging, coping skills, help-seeking, emotional awareness, healthy relationships, resilience, and self-advocacy. Each lesson teaches one practical, real-life skill that students can apply immediately using engaging teacher-friendly activities that naturally fit into a classroom setting.
How Should The Suicide Prevention Series Be Used?
The lessons are designed to be flexible and delivered in the order provided or selected to meet the needs of your students and school community. Schools may choose to deliver one lesson each week, bi-weekly, monthly, or embed lessons into existing advisory, homeroom, health, or well-being blocks. While each lesson can stand alone, delivering the series consistently over time helps reinforce key concepts and provides students with repeated opportunities to build confidence using practical mental health and well-being skills. Schools are encouraged to adapt the delivery to suit their timetable while maintaining regular opportunities for learning, discussion, and reflection.
