There are a number of elements to consider when implementing Open Parachute across your school or district:
Which grade levels will the program be taught in?
What class time has been set aside?
Are educators comfortable with delivering the content?
Do educators understand the goals of the program?
We greatly value your efforts in making this program a success at your school or district! We strive to make this as easy as possible for you. In order to ensure that your goals for the program are met as effectively as possible, here is what we ask of you when implementing Open Parachute:
Organize an Onboarding session with your Staff.
Tell us about any issues that arise so we can assist & help troubleshoot.
Follow up with educators who are not using the program.
Provide feedback on how we can improve our lessons.
We recommend reviewing our Onboarding Handbook, found in the Onboarding Guides section of the Administrator Dashboard for more detailed information about the Program.
For a detailed guide on how to introduce Open Parachute to your staff, please see our Help Article.
We also recommend that you check out our Platform Tour for helpful video guides on how to navigate the Open Parachute platform. The Platform Tour can be found in the Getting Started section of your Dashboard and is available to all users.
Tips for Implementation
Below are suggestions for best practices in implementing the Open Parachute program for the first time:
Have a few of your Lead Educators review the program before you introduce it to the rest of your staff so they can champion it for others.
Tell your teachers well in advance of starting the program, and give them time to provide suggestions for what they need in order to be successful.
Create time in the schedule for educators to regularly meet and collaborate before delivering lessons.
Start by running an Educator well-being session, so your teachers have a chance to practice speaking openly about mental health.
Complete modules from Creating Resilient Classrooms so educators can hear from other educators about how they support wellbeing in their classrooms.
Set aside time to go through the onboarding materials with your staff.
Organize co-teaching for any educators who feel hesitant with the material.
